All the adventurers in Black Desert have limits on inventory and weight. It is very important to know how to take good care of the items.

The most important thing in this management is how to use the various storage systems.

The storage in Black Desert serves the basic function of keeping your items stored, as well as being a place to receive the items gathered and crafted by workers.

When you open the storage window, it displays that town's storage, the complete list of storages you have and your character's inventory.

Storage Keeper

The town storages in Black Desert are separated for each town. For example, items that are left at Velia's storage can’t be recovered at Heidel's.

To check which towns have storage, you need to click on their icons in the World Map. Those with storage will show the items stored there.

Each town has an NPC, the Storage Keeper, to access that town's storage. Your storage is shared across all characters from your family, and has a transport function to move goods between town storages.

The Storage Keeper NPCs are as follows:

Territory NPC Name (Town Name)
Balenos Makuum (Olvia), Ernill (Velia)
Serendia Amerigo (Heidel), Frenil (Glish)
Calpheon Basquean Ljurik (Calpheon City), Pavino Greko (Port Epheria),

Christine Cessory (Keplan), Langus (Trent)

Mediah Deve (Altinova), Ignar (Tarif)
Valencia Tavu (Sand Grain Bazaar), Altunie (Shakatu),

Ramanit (Valencia City), Ferdi (Muiquun), Buroma (Arehaza),

Diofalan (Ancado Inner Harbor)

Margoria Soryu (Port Ratt)
Kamasylvia Lumen (Old Wisdom Tree), Vipiko (Grána)
Drieghan Rinta (Duvencrune)

How to Use & Increasing Storage Slots

If you go to the Storage Keeper NPC and talk to them, you can find the ‘Storage’ button in the menu. If you click it the storage window where you can store the items in the town will be activated.

Each town offers a basic 8-slot storage.

Storage slots can be expanded by purchasing houses and using them as storage units.

There are a lot of items in the world of Black Desert. Storage expansion is a necessity.

Any item except bound items can be deposited into the storage, and these spaces have no weight limit.

Silver is also deposited into the storage, and from there it can be used to purchase from vendors and sent it to the Central Market.

If you open the storage and left click the silver coin icon from your inventory, a window to decide how much money to be transferred pops up.

On the other hand, when taking out silver coins from the storage, left click the silver coin icon in the storage window.

For reference, if you open the storage, the ‘current marketplace asset value’ shows up under the screen, and this shows the current marketplace price asset value of the item that you have kept in silver coins.

After getting a house in the area, if you set the use as storage, you can get more slots of storage depending on the level.

Transport

As mentioned above, the town storages in Black Desert are separated by territory.

What if you kept a lot of items in the storage of territory A, and you want to move to territory B all of a sudden?

Just thinking about it might give you a headache. That's why the storage item transport system exists.

If you go back to the Storage Keeper NPC again and talk to them, you can find the ‘transport’ button. If you press this, another window of ‘transport status’ opens.

To send an item, press the ‘send’ button in the transport status. Then a new window, menu and item slots for choosing destination and transport status open.

For destination, the list will show all possible destinations. After selecting the destination and transport method (wagon, trade ship), right click the item from the storage.

It is a method where item that can be sent gets packed, (1 item per item if it can’t be stacked, and for items that can be stacked, the system separates it on its own) and up to 40 items can be packed.

Note: Bound item can’t be transported.

If the nodes are all connected between the relevant towns to the destination town the transport fee is cheap, but if not, the transport fee is tripled.

If you have prepared everything, press the ‘send’ button.

Then all you have to do is wait. A freight wagon or a trade ship that is constantly on the move on a fixed route will pass by the town of origin, take the items and carry them to the town of destination.

The time it takes for transport is different by the route and method of transportation chosen.

Now, let’s get back the item that you deposited.

After you moved to the destination, meet the Storage Keeper NPC there and check the transport status. If the item already arrived, you can find it in transport status right away.

If you press ‘receive all’ at this point, all of the items that have been sent goes to the warehouse of the destination.

Currency Exchange

You might have received gold ingots from quests or events. You'll see that some quests will ask gold ingots from you. That's where the currency exchange comes into play.

If you talk to the Storage Keeper NPC and click ‘currency exchange’, the window where gold ingots valued 1G ~ 1000G can be bought and sold opens. Both buying and selling is available.

Aside from those uses already mentioned, you also need gold ingots for bank investment.

Shopping with Money Stored in the Storage

In the case of a town with storage, you can buy and sell items in the town with the silver coins stored there.

Whoever it might be, General Goods Vendor or the Blacksmith, click ‘shop’ and open it. The item list that the relevant NPC have will appear. If you look at the bottom of the window, the ‘balance’ and ‘held in storage’ is separated, and the money gets spent based on what you select.

If you select ‘held in storage’ and buy the item, silver coins kept at the storage will be used.

Also, this function can be used not only in buying but selling as well.

If you sell the trophies earned from defeating monsters, and you’ve checked ‘held in storage’, all the silver coins from items that have been sold go to the storage.

Storage & Central Market Warehouse

The Central Market has a storage system of its own, and the town storage is one of the two ways in which you can deposit items to the warehouse.

If you click the Warehouse icon in the storage window, the storage window and Central Market warehouse window will appear side by side.

This way you can freely move items and money between both storage systems. This window will also let you move items not only from your current town storage, but also the inventory and pearl inventory windows.

Read more on it in the Warehouse section of the Central Market page.

The Relation Between Workers, Crafting and Storage

It will be introduced in a detailed way in Crafting, but the town storage is connected to what your workers do, apart from your items.

For example, let’s say you buy one house in Velia as a ‘fish factory’ and craft a ‘packaged dried mudskipper’ with a worker.

In order to craft a ‘packaged dried mudskipper’, you need 10 ‘dried mudskipper’ and 1 Black Stone Powder. You need to have these ingredients/materials in the storage so that the workers can find them and start working.

Both ground mounts (donkeys, horses, wagons) and boats will have a determined number of inventory slots (depends on the type of mount) for storage. You can put any kind of available item in the mount's inventory, but remember that all mounts have a weight limit. The visual appearance of the mounts will change according to the amount of items and their weight. Depending on the weight of the items in their inventory they will move slower and slower until they cannot carry anymore.
